Through the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, The Southern New England Group Representatives offer services in the areas of life insurance, disability income insurance, long-term care insurance, annuities, investment products, and other products for personal and business needs analysis.

The ambition of the Southern New England Group is to make a positive impact on all associates and their clientele by creating an environment of desire, confidence, consistency, and positive results. Education, motivation, and empowerment are the tools by which this office enables its associates to envision and fulfill a successful future to better serve its clients.

The Southern New England Group is located in the renovated Foundry Corporate Office Center, a landmark within the city of Providence.

Establishing The Southern New England Group

Northwestern Mutual first established an office in Rhode Island in 1886.  D. Cristi Stroud is just the eighth Managing Partner to serve the Rhode Island and Southern New England region.

Our Financial Representatives come from differing backgrounds, made up of accountants, bankers, small business owners, teachers and consultants. Some of the Financial Representatives with the Southern New England Group started straight out of college, while others were sales representatives in other industries.

The Financial Representatives come from local colleges and universities such as Rhode Island College, Providence College, University of Rhode Island, Salve Regina, and Bryant. The Southern New England Group also has representatives who attended other schools around New England and the country, including Northwestern and Harvard, Denision, Springfield, UNC-Greensboro and Costal Carolina.

Managing Partner

Cristi started her career in 1996 as a College Agent with the South Florida Group in the Downey District Office. She built their college team, and then became the College Unit Director. She was a Top 10 Agent, and then went on to lead the Top College Team. She joined The Washington Group in April of 2003 as the Field Director.

Her mission is to be committed to providing clients with innovative solutions for their personal and business needs. She works to understand her clients' financial dreams and goals so she can provide the right solutions and products at the right time.

Cristi graduated from Old Dominion University with a B.S. in psychology and a B.A. in business communications, and then attained her M.B.A. from Florida International University.

She has attained her CLU designation and has received the following awards: Bronze, Silver, Gold, 1st 40 and 2nd 60.
